As if the pandemic wasn't bad enough, almost six months ago, the world lost one of the most influential musicians of our time. Eddie Van Halen succumbed to cancer on October 6, 2020.
Growing up as a teenage guitar player in the 80s, Eddie was my hero, as he was for millions of other kids. His death has hit me really hard, and as I struggle to wonder why this is,, I think it has more to do with the realization of how much impact one person can have one the world, and how quickly it can all be taken away.
Today on my
music blog, I wrote my own
tribute to Eddie Van Halen. It helped me to process my own ongoing sadness about his passing, but it also celebrates his life and the enormous impact he had, and continues to have on so many people.
