Last year, Fujifilm released their latest Film Simulation, called ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS. Designed to compliment ETERNA, which replicates Fuji's very low saturation, low contrast movie film stock of the same name, ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS replicate the process by which moviemakers would skip the "bleaching" step during processing. 

 

This leaves both the silver halide crystals and the color dyes intact, with the end result being a black and white image over a color image. The visual effect is even more reduced saturation, but increased contrast and grain, and a color image that looks very much like black and white. 

 

With a dynamic range similar to CLASSIC CHROME, ETERNA BLEACH BYPASS hits the mark of being "color that's almost monochrome." It's a look I'm really fascinated with, that I've been trying to achieve for years.

 

ENTERNA BLEACH BYPASS is found in the newest models, the X-T4, X-S10 and X-E4, but if you don't have one of those models, you can come pretty close by using Ritchie Roesch's recipe at his Fuijxweekly site.

I know you're not one of my regular "music subscribers," but I just released a brand new album called "Up Higher," and it's a hugely momentous occasion in my creative life. I figured you wouldn't mind hearing about it.

 

Featuring eight vocal and instrumental tracks, most of which were written and recorded during the past year, I feel that this collection represents the best, most personal, and most ambitious music I’ve ever produced.

“Up Higher” is titled to reflect the positive feel and messages I tried to evoke in the songs. It’s also a play on words, since two of the songs were originally written as soundtracks to aerial photography videos.

Heavily influenced by the events of the past year, and the realization that I’m not getting any younger, I dedicated myself to spending much of this past few months writing, recording and mixing. I’m really proud of how this album turned out, so I hope you enjoy it!
