- A Quick FYI About My Website and Blog

Published: Wed, 08/23/17

Hi ,

Just a quick FYI - If you've tried to access my website or blog during the past few days, you were most likely met with an error message, or a white screen.

Unfortunately, my entire site is down, and has been since Sunday. What was supposed to be a seamless migration to a new server has turned into an absolute nightmare.

Basically, GoDaddy damaged my databases and broke my entire website, which means that all of my content is inaccessible and possibly even lost. They're trying to recover it from their monthly backup, but they have apparently made no progress, even though I've spent at least 6 very irate hours on the phone with them since Sunday.

First my Instagram account gets hacked, now this. Grrrr.... The good thing is that my shopping cart still works, so if you're trying to order X SERIES UNLIMITED, you can use the direct purchase link here. Or you can check the Google cache page to see info about the book here. If you'd like to purchase any of my other books, please contact me and I can give you the direct link.

At this point, I don't even know if I'll get my content back, (over 850 blog posts), or if I'll have to start from scratch. I've been furiously copying posts and pages from Google's cache pages, so if a total do-over becomes necessary, at least I won't have to rewrite everything. That said, I'm really not looking forward to the prospect of a total rebuild.

I'm hoping that they can fix their mess and bring my site back to normal, but I'm starting to have my doubts. Being the product of over 10 years of work, you can imagine my mood right about now. Also, the timing sucks, as my site was just ranked as a Top 100 Travel Photography Blog, coming it at the #8 spot, and yet nobody can look at it.

As always, , thanks so much for your support. The only thing that's keeping me sane right now is knowing that even if I do have to start over, at least I still have an incredible group of loyal and most awesome readers, so I won't really be starting from scratch.

Keep your fingers crossed that they'll be able to bring me back online very soon! In the meantime, if you have a website or blog, I recommend you back up your content and database as soon as possible.

Take care and very best regards,

Dan Bailey
Sincerely,
Dan Bailey
