I just got back from Ohio, where I spent the weekend teaching autofocus and photographing birds at the Biggest Birding Week in America Festival at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, outside of Toledo. This was my first time shooting with the X-H2S and the XF150-600mm
lens, and I have to say, I was really impressed! The X-H2 is a real hot rod camera, and that 150-600 gives you an amazing reach with very fast autofocus. I was highly impressed with this pro-quality lens, and I'll be doing a full review very soon on my YouTube channel. I shot for two days with this combo, and got a variety of
great images in very challenging conditions. (Here are a few, and there will be more to come.) However, on the last day, I actually shot with my X-T5, and in
fact, a couple of my favorite images from the entire weekend were made with the X-T5 and the XF70-300mm lens. (Below) This is a testament to how well all of the new 5th Gen Fujis perform with regards to subject detection and tracking, and also how capable the 70-300 lens is for shooting fast moving subjects. Many of these images, especially the red wing blackbird, represent extremely challenging situations, and the camera was able to keep up, but much of that is because of sheer autofocus expertise and full knowledge of how to use the
camera controls to make it do what I want. This is exactly the kind of material I teach in my online course, Mastering the Fujifilm Autofocus
System, and it's why I created the course. I want to help you better understand your Fuji camera and teach you the skills needed, so that you can get the images that YOU want, even in the most challenging conditions. If you want to enroll in the course, I'll even extend my
15% discount code SPRINGFOCUS through the end of May. Seattle June 10 And, my upcoming event at Kenmore Camera in Seattle is finally up on the calendar for June 10, which coincides with their summer sale. My free presentation is called Using Different Lenses in Your Outdoor Photography, and I'll have a lot of brand new images to illustrate. If
you're in or near the Seattle area, then be sure to register and come say hi! I'm so excited to be back and doing in-person events again, and I look forward to seeing some of you guys out there this year!
