Cyclocross season is upon us again, and although I'm not racing yet, I'm back to shooting my favorite kind of biking photos again, and that feels like gold. In addition to shooting stills, I've started shooting video at the races, and this week I put together a short movie of the most recent
race.
The video clips were all shot handheld with the X-T5, set to H.265 4:2:2 Long GOP at 360 Mbps, (here's a primer on basic Fujifilm video settings), and after editing them together, I scored it with a nice, loud, original rock guitar track.
I hope you enjoy this short, and very exciting bout of my own creativity. Man, it feels good to be able to do this again! You can check out my Facebook page to see my most recent cyclocross photos.
Autofocus Skills
I absolutely love the chaos
and excitement of cyclocross, and over the years, it has been an excellent way for me to push my creativity, test different cameras, lenses and compositional ideas, and also to hone my autofocus skills.
So much of what I've learned about being proficient with autofocus has been gained through my cyclocross shooting sessions over the past decade. Not only has the intensity and quickness of the sport helped me improve my expertise, the regular practice is what makes the most difference in being good at this.
And it's this level of expertise that prompted me to create my autofocus course, Mastering the Fujifilm Autofocus System, because I knew that I could help other shooters gain proficiency with their own shooting, no matter if you like to capture biking, birds, kids, wildlilfe, race cars, or whatever... really, anything that moves.
