Hi , I hope you've been having a great week so far. I spent last weekend in Tucson, at the Audubon Society Southeast Arizona Birding Festival. The 100 degree temps were a fun break from the cool, wet summer we've had here in Anchorage, although I spent most of the time inside, teaching and helping out at the Fujifilm table. I did
a field session out side in Reid Park, and it was fun to go around and give helpful tips to each person, and see some of you out there! My in-class workshop was titled "Essential Autofocus Tips for Photographing Birds and Action," basically an abbreviated version of my online course, Mastering the Fujifilm Autofocus System. The course has been a huge hit this year, and so far, it's helped hundreds of people get a better handle on their cameras and get better performance, especially when trying to capture moving subjects. If you'd like to check out the course and learn how to maximize the performance of your Fujifilm camera, you can click here to enroll and use discount code FOCUS10OFF to save 15% on the
course. 4 INGREDIENTS FOR A SUCCESSFUL IMAGE As I've looked at thousands of photos over the years and studied the recurring visual and thematic elements that many of the best images contain, I came up with a list of four main ingredients that always seem to emerge in the path toward making successful imagery. Check out this video to see what these 4 essential ingredients are and how you can appy them to your image making. 1:1 COACHING SESSIONS I've hit a real stride with my personal 1:1 coaching sessions, which I've been doing
every week. Here are a couple of remarks I've gotten from people during the past few days. "Dan is very approachable, extremely knowledgeable and patient, all one could ask for in a mentor." "What more can I say but that I will do it again! You are a natural teacher and good listener. Thank you!"I can't stress how helpful
these sessions can be, and how much they can help motivate you and optimize your shooting and camera setup. Click this link for more info and to schedule a session. BIKE RIDING!!! I've ridden my bike three times during the past couple weeks, and plan to
do another ride this afternoon. My distance has been steadily increasing from 6 to 9 miles, all on flat paved trails, and I'm planning on going even further today. Now three-plus months out of rotator cuff surgery, I'm definitely bouncing back, or rather, I'm cautiously sliding back into regular life again as I continue to heal. FUJIFILM Zoom Workshop w/ Paul's Photo, August 24 - 6:00PM PDT On August 24, I'll be doing a ZOOM workshop through Paul's Photo in Torrence, CA. During this talk, I'll share tips on how to use your lenses more creativity for landscape, sports, action, wildlife and nature
photography. On August 25, they'll also be hosting a FUJIFILM Day, with in-store specials, and a Brewery Event with some of the FUJIFILM reps. You can register for the one or both of these free events
here. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, this course basically takes you into my own head and shows you my creative approach, and the compositional process that I use to create the very images
that you say you like. In this way, I let you into my own brain and share the very ideas that fuel my own style, and show you how you can apply those ideas to your own photography. Each lesson includes a thought provoking assignment that will push your creative ideas and add new compositional tools to your bag of tricks. The course has a full 100% guarantee. If
you enroll, and don't think it will help you stay inspired to keep pushing your own creativity year after year, than I'll give you a full refund. That's all for now. Thanks for reading! I hope to see some of you in Tucson this weekend. Either way, I really appreciate the support you've shown me during the past 100 days. Have fun with your cameras this weekend and take
care!
