I've been doing home recording with my music for years, and even though I have a lot of audio gear, there are just a few things that I always use when I record my songs and YouTube scores.

Of course, just like in photography, my gear has evolved over the years, but interestingly, most of the gear I'm using these days is pretty new. Take a look at my music blog this week and see what my most used, most essential tools are for recording and music production.

If you're a musician yourself, you might find some of these items to be useful in your own home studio. It's all pretty affordable and it can make the whole process that much easier. It can even help make the difference between an OK sounding recording and a really good one.

If you're not a musician, this will at least give you insight as to how a guy like me makes high quality sousing music in my house.

In addition to all of the guitar related stuff I’ve collected over the years, I’ve gone through a variety of recording gear that I’ve used to make my music.

As with any craft, the tools you use to make your art/product are constantly evolving with the times, and with your specific needs, wants and budget. I’ve used many different cameras and lenses over the years; music gear is kind of the same.
