Hi ,
After GoDaddy crashed my entire site for 9 days, I'm exited to report that I'm back up and running again! And, much to my relief, all of my old content was recovered and restored.
*whew!*
That said, even though they closed the ticket and called it good yesterday morning, my databases were
still damaged, which prevented me from actually logging in and accessing my Wordpress dashboard.
Fortunately, I'd already reached out to a new hosting company, Host Duplex. These guys are awesome. I found them through a
recommendation from another photographer friend, and not only do they provide excellent performance and security, they offer unbelievable customer support.
Immediately after hearing my final word from GoDaddy, my new host had already started migrating all of my content over to their servers. And not only did they get everything moved within a day, my rep even fixed, updated and optimized
my site, which went back online this afternoon.
I can't even begin to elaborate how relived I am to have this sorted out. And of course, I can't say enough good things about Host Duplex, so if you're looking for a full service web hosting company that offers excellent service and customer support, I can highly recommend them.
Also,
I want to express my gratitude to you guys for standing by me during this incredibly stressful time. :)
So many of you sent me notices of encouragement, advice, recommendations and even offers of technical assistance, and for that I'm very grateful. It shows me that I truly have the best readers in the world.
One thing to note, since I'm now on faster servers with more up-to-date software, you should notice improved performance when reading my blog. I can already notice it on the back end, so I'm hopeful that it will lead to a better, more streamlined reading experience for you.
Finally, with all seriousness, I need to put this in perspective. Even though I lost my website for a week,
at least I didn't lose my house to flooding. My thoughts go out anyone who has been affected by the recent events in Houston.
If you're looking to donate and are unsure of the best outlet, you might consider the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund that was set up this week by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
So, thank you again for your support! I hope you have a great week.
