Upcoming Workshops & Events and a Major Luminar Update

I hope you've had a great week so far and are looking forward to a fun weekend of photography! It was 55-degrees yesterday in Anchorage, and we have another long day of sunshine scheduled for today. So yay, spring is finally here for us!!

I've just got a couple of quick news items you might be interested in. Also, if you've shot a photo you feel especially proud of lately, feel free to send it along, I'd love to take a look!

Upcoming Workshops & Events

As of right now, I've got two big workshops on the schedule for 2018. My Tanzania VIP Photo Safari with Discover Photo Tours is set for Aug 31-Sept 10. During this 11-day trip, we'll photograph the great migration across Africa's most celebrated national Parks and capture the beautiful culture and wide open landscapes of diverse and magical part of the world.

Also, we've just added another FUJIFILM X Photographers Nature & Travel Summit for this fall. If you're transitioning to the X Series or GFX, or if you're seriously interested in the system and want to find out more, this is great opportunity to learn more and try out the gear. (We'll have a selection of free loaner X Series/GFX cameras and lenses).

The 2018 FUJIFILM Summit will be in The Great Smoky Mountains, Oct 31-Nov 4. This three and a half day workshop will be led by Jack Graham, Bill Fortney and me. We'll be sharing our skills and insight about photography, and provide extensive tips about how to get the most from your camera system. Note, that much of the teaching is based on the craft of image making, and is not necessary gear specific.

We had a wonderful time on both of our 2017 FUJIFILM Summit, so I hope you can join us for the 2018 version this fall!

Also, I'll be doing three camera store presentations and a photo hike later in a few weeks down in the Southwest. So far, I have three dates set: April 28 in Las Vegas, May 3 in Riverside, CA and May 5 in Palm Springs, CA. These are all free events, but space is limited. See more info here.

Luminar Jupiter Update Adds Speed Boost

This week, Skylum released a major update to Luminar 2018. The "Jupiter" update gives a significant speed and performance boost to Luminar and adds a number of features to the Windows version.

One of the most notable improvements is that it opens RAW files WAY faster now. Also, you'll get even better image quality from your RAW conversions.

The Jupiter update is free if you already use Luminar 2018. If you're using an old version of Luminar or if you haven't tried Luminar, you can update/purchase the program for a $10 discount with coupon code DANBAILEY.
