Hi ,
I hope you had a great weekend. I spent the past week in Ohio, visiting my dad, helping out at the Cincinnati Drink & Click, and giving my presentation at Midwest Photo Exchange's Feature Fair on Saturday.
The day before, I went on the Channel 28 Morning Show in Columbus to help promote the Midwest Photo event. Being my third TV appearance this year, this certainly helped my
status as a rising TV star.
That was probably my last trip of the year. Now I'm back in Alaska, where I'll spend the rest of the month enjoying the holidays with family and friends and enjoying the snow.
Again, I want to thank everyone who sent personal wishes of goodwill after our recent earthquake. :)
10 days ago, I released my brand new eBook, BEHIND THE LANDSCAPE, which is a detailed breakdown of 16 of my favorite landscapes images from the past 5 years.
For each example, I walk you through the entire process from start to finish and tell you exactly how I got each image.
I let you look over my shoulder as I evaluate the scene and the light, select the right lens, discuss the specific concept I had in mind for the shot and outline my exact approach and creative techniques I used to bring the shot to life. I tell you my exact settings, then give you my final analysis of the shoot and leave you with 3 takeaways you can add to your own creative bag of
tricks.
I even show you the outtakes that led up to the final shot. I feel this is one of the most valuable aspects of the book, because it illustrates the creative journey of going from an initial idea to a final, compelling image.
-----------------------------
I know you're going to love this book; it's like taking a virtual workshop with me where I give you own personal insight about how to approach a scene, deal with the light, solve specific compositional problems and tell you why I went with my particular approach.
My goal with this guide is to give you a collection of time tested techniques, ideas and creative skills so that you can create powerful images of any scene you shoot.
Here are a couple of testimonials below, so you can see what your fellow subscribers are saying about the book. If you already bought the book, I want to thank you for your purchase and I look forward to hearing what you think as well. Also, if you tried to purchase the book before and had problems with this discount code, this has now been fixed.
"I have read you new book “Behind the Landscape.” I could not “put it down” meaning that I kept at it because each photo you presented/analyzed was interesting and informative."
"I think that your in-depth description of how you arrived at the final image is really crucial to those of us who tend to shoot too fast or don’t look before we either shoot or just take one angle/viewpoint and then move on too quickly. I really enjoy your style of writing."
