Exploring the World of Outdoor Photography with Tips, News, Imagery and Insight Dan Bailey's Adventure Photography Blog

Hi ,

Here we are, right in the middle of the holidays!! I hope that you'€re finding time to get out and shoot between bouts of eating Christmas cookies, shopping for gifts and spending time with your family. I managed to get out for a much needed ski day yesterday. Fortunately, I was skiing with another photographer, who didn'€t mind stopping every so often to goof off with our cameras. You can see some of the photos I shot on today's blog post.

Yesterday on my Facebook Page, I posted something that I wrote last year, called What Chase Jarvis Said, but Remember to Be Good To Yourself Too. I felt that it was an appropriate reminder for this time of year, when we often find ourselves really busy. Just something to keep in mind.

10 Will Get You 100

This is something that one of my stock agencies stresses. It'€s actually a great message and on that you can apply to your photography, or to the rest of your life. Essentially, it means that applying 10% more effort on your part, to your image, whether it'€s spent fine tuning your composition, adjusting to get the optimum exposure, or post processing your image in Photoshop, will get you 100% of the sale.

This can apply whether you'€re shooting and trying to sell your photos as stock or prints, or not. In the long run, the smallest amount of extra effort will make your images stand out from the crowd, so that they'll be noticed by the customer or client, or on Facebook. You know as well as I do, it'€s the really great images that get retweeted, so, spend the extra time getting your photos to look as good as they can possibly be.

Like I said, you can apply this to the rest of your life as well. Try it.

Exclusive Lowepro discount

I'€ve been associated with Lowepro for a few years now. They offer an exceptionally well designed, and solidly built line of camera bags, slings and packs that are ideal for the adventure, outdoor and travel photographer. You probably already know this. You probably have, or had at least one Lowepro bag in your life. Maybe more.

Anyway, as a pro Lowepro user, I'm allowed to give special discounts to my readers. This special discount code will save you 20% on any product when you shop directly on the Lowepro website. To get the discount, click this banner below, or click this link, and enter code LP20 in your shopping cart when you order any products. This special is not time sensitive, so don'€t feel that you have to hurry and buy something now, the code is good indefinitely.

However, if you are interested in a new camera back, I'€d highly recommend checking out the new Photo Sport 200 camera pack. I''ve had one for about a month now, and in my mind, it'€s the ultimate adventure camera back. It'€s a top loading backpack with a hydration pocket and a separate bottom camera compartment. This allows quick access to your photo gear without having to dig through the main compartment, where you keep your jacket, snacks and all the other outdoor gear and clothing that you need for a day on the trails, mountain bike, high alpine ridges or skis.

The Photo Sport 200 is the camera pack that I've been waiting for. Maybe it's the one you've been looking for. Watch for a more complete review on my blog in the near future.

Going Fast With Light Kindle Version

Finally, I'€d like to announce that Going Fast With Light is now available as a Kindle Version on the Amazon store. I'€m really excited about this. It was always my intention to release the book in Kindle format, but with all the other stuff going on, I didn't have the time to devote to getting it converted in a way that looks good. I REALLY love how the regular PDF version looks, especially on the iPad, but as far as Kindle books go, I have to say, it looks pretty good on that device as well.

All the photos are there, all the text and all the links. There'€s even hot link table of contents. If you'€ve got a Kindle, or a new Kindle Fire, check it out!

As always, thanks for reading. Have fun this week, take lots of photos and if you get something that you really like consider adding it to our Outdoor Adventure Photography Flickr Group or to the Fast With Light Flickr Group. Who knows, maybe I'€ll feature your photo on my Facebook page? How cool would that be?

Not sure if I'€ll get another newsletter out before Christmas, so if I don'€t, Happy Holidays and best wishes for the end of 2011. And don't forget to check out my Holiday photography wish list!
