Exploring the World of Outdoor Photography with Tips, News, Imagery and Insight Dan Bailey's Adventure Photography Blog
Hi ,

Let’s talk landscape photography. After all, that’s how many photographers spend their summer. Searching for and creating compelling photos of the natural world is an endless pursuit that yields untold rewards. There’s nothing like watching the last rays of pink sunlight stream through the edge of thin clouds at the horizon and paint the side of some dramatic mountain or rock formation. You’re there with your camera all set up on the tripod, holding out for just the right moment… *Click*

How are you on your landscape photography? Do you need a little motivation or something to break you out of a rut? Check out Ian Plant’s blot post: Break Free From Your Comfort Zone. Ian is a master of land and light and pretty much anything he writes is worth reading.

Also, in case you missed this a few months ago, check Landscape Photographers on Creativity and Inspiration, tips from a collection of very talented shooters like Guy Tal, Jim Goldstein, Anne McKinnell and Russ Bishop. Even if you saw it the first time, soak it up again. Maybe you’ll absorb something new.

Landscape Photography Gear Reviews

Check out this lens review from Canadian photographer Michael Russell. He profiles the Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens, which he makes great use of when shooting landscapes and nature. It’s an quality “big lens” that won’t kill the bank account, or your back when you carry it into the backcountry. Also, here’s a look at 6 Great Tripods for Landscape Photography. You know what they say, nothing beats a great set of legs. Finally, check out my 5 Favorite Books for Learning Landscape Photography. I cut my teeth on some these, you may have as well.

Whether you’re all set on gear and instruction, or whether you’re still looking for that perfect (insert gear name here), there’s no substitute for actually heading out in the world and making photographs. What I’m trying to say, is Get out there and shoot!!! And be sure and share your favorites up on my Facebook page when I do Monday photo callouts.
