I tend to write, play and record more music during the fall and winter, and with my shoulder injury and my 3 months of PT, that was definitely the case this season. So, as we head into February, I just wanted to keep you up to date on what I've been doing on the music front.
Having always been intrigued by film scoring, I gave myself a new ongoing project of making and scoring short videos, which I've been posting as Instagram Reels. This diverse collection of videos, all 30-60 seconds in length, features a wide variety of musical styles, from straight ahead guitar rock, to hypnotic and upbeat synth music, to world and orchestral.
It's been a fun creative challenge to come up with these short bits of original music that match the mood of whatever video I'm scoring in the moment. I hope you enjoy them!
Be sure to follow @danbaileymusic on Instagram and let me know you're there! Also, remember to add me to your playlists on your favorite music streaming service!
During the height of COVID's initial wave, the indie music site Bandcamp suspended their cut for music purchases on Fridays, which meant that 100% of song and album sales went directly to the artists.
Playing Live in Anchorage Tonight!
I realize that most of you don't live in Anchorage, but I just thought I'd let you know that I'm the featured musical entertainment at The Trek Store of Anchorage Annual Bike Art Show tonight! I'll be playing guitar along with a bass player friend of mine, and we'll
run through a variety of rock and blues soundscapes and create a fun ambiance for the evening.
I'm really excited, because this the first time I'll be playing outside of the house in a very long time!
I've also been working on a couple new songs, which I hope to have finished later this winter, so stay tuned!!
I hope you've having a great winter, and if you're a musician yourself, then I hope you've been able to find some time for your own instrument and/or voice. I've actually been doing some vocal training myself lately.
If you've always wanted to improve your singing voice, I'd highly recommend this guy. With his real-world, and very down-to-earth approach, his teaching style kind of reminds me of me.
Ok, that's all for now! Thanks for reading, thanks for your support and take care!
